By-Product Cost Offset Program

Turn forest by-products into project savings.

Selective harvest, hazard removals, and fuels-reduction work often produce marketable material. We evaluate those by-products—then convert potential value into direct cost offsets on your proposal.

How It Works

  1. Assess – We review species mix, volumes, access, and market proximity.

  2. Price – We solicit bids from mills, yards, and biomass facilities; verify current gate fees or pay scales.

  3. Plan – We design the most efficient mobilization, decking, and haul plan.

  4. Offset – We apply verified material value (or avoided disposal costs) to reduce your project total.

  5. Document – You receive a summary of yields, outlets, tickets, and net credits.

Why it matters

Lower Total Cost – Material value and avoided tipping fees reduce net spend.

  1. Faster Mobilization – Dedicated sort/haul plans shorten schedules.

  2. Environmental Benefit – Diverts waste, supports circular use, and lowers burn/disposal impacts.

  3. Transparency – Tickets and scale slips provide auditable backup.

FAQs

Do offsets fully pay for a project?
Usually not. They reduce cost; final impact depends on volume, grade, access, and markets.

Can chips/biomass have value?
Yes—some facilities pay; others charge. Offsets may come from avoided disposal fees when payment isn’t available.

Can material stay on site?
Often. Clean chips or logs can be reused on site when ecologically appropriate and approved by the owner/agency.

Is there a guarantee?
Markets move. We provide best-available pricing and apply only verified credits.

Program Terms & Legal Notes

Signature Tree Solutions (“STS”) evaluates potential by-product cost offsets strictly as part of its forestry-management services. All valuations, credits, and market references are estimates only and subject to third-party market conditions, regulatory approval, and material verification.

  • No Guarantee of Value: Offsets are based on current regional market pricing for biomass, timber, or other reusable materials. STS does not guarantee material acceptance, purchase rates, or resale value. Actual offset values may differ once verified by scale slips, tickets, or facility receipts.

  • Third-Party Involvement: All downstream transactions—including milling, chipping, hauling, or biomass processing—are handled by independent contractors or facilities. STS assumes no responsibility for their performance, pricing, or availability.

  • Environmental & Compliance Standards: All activities comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including transportation, load-securement, and disposal requirements. STS will not divert or sell materials to any unlicensed or non-compliant outlet.

  • Insurance & Liability: While STS maintains comprehensive insurance coverage (general liability, loggers property damage, auto, and workers’ compensation), clients remain responsible for ensuring project access, permitting, and property-owner approvals.

  • Market & Force-Majeure Conditions: STS is not liable for changes in market demand, mill closures, biomass facility downtime, or acts of nature that affect offset feasibility.

  • Estimates & Documentation: Offset credits apply only when confirmed by third-party documentation (scale tickets, receipts, or signed transfer forms). Draft estimates are not binding offers and do not alter contract pricing unless approved in writing.

  • No Financial Advice or Tax Representation: Offset credits are project-based operational adjustments, not financial instruments. STS does not provide tax, accounting, or investment advice.

Important: Participation in the By-Product Cost Offset program does not guarantee a reduction in project cost. All offsets are evaluated case-by-case, dependent on verified volume, species, access, and market conditions.
