Project Summary – Vineyard Road Post-Fire Debris Management & Hazard Mitigation Project (Completed)

Signature Tree Solutions successfully completed a comprehensive post-fire vegetation management, hazardous tree removal, and debris mitigation project across approximately 7 miles of vineyard roadway corridors.

This project was a critical component of a broader post-fire forestry management plan, focused on restoring safe access, reducing wildfire fuel loads, and protecting valuable vineyard infrastructure following significant wildfire impacts.

Project Overview

Following a detailed Arborist Tree Risk Assessment, our team identified and mapped:

  • Approximately 1,200 individually numbered hazardous trees (marked with blue paint)

  • An additional estimated 2,972 fire-damaged trees, along with extensive shrubs, small trees, and brush units within 60 feet on both sides of the roadway

All trees and treatment areas were fully inventoried, mapped, and prioritized, allowing for precise execution across challenging terrain.

Project Map

Scope of Work Delivered

Signature Tree Solutions executed a three-tiered debris management and mitigation strategy, applying consistent standards across all treatment areas:

Hazardous Tree Removal

  • Removal of high and extreme risk trees identified through formal arborist assessment

  • Prioritization of trees posing immediate risk to roadway safety and vineyard operations

  • Careful execution in proximity to vineyard assets and infrastructure

Vegetation & Fuel Reduction

  • Treatment of all fire-impacted vegetation within 60 feet of roadway corridors

  • Removal of dead, damaged, and unstable trees

  • Reduction of ladder fuels, brush, and dense understory growth

  • Selective thinning to improve spacing and long-term forest health

Material Processing & Site Restoration

  • Chipping of woody debris up to approximately 20” in diameter

  • Even distribution of mulch across forest floor (not exceeding ~10”–12” depth)

  • Hauling and disposal of excess material offsite

  • Cutting all stumps to 6”–8” above grade

  • Retention and redistribution of larger logs in a safe, non-hazardous manner

  • Raising canopy heights to improve clearance and reduce fire risk

Execution & Performance

This project required advanced operational coordination and technical expertise, including:

  • Working in steep, heavily timbered terrain

  • Utilizing mechanized equipment safely in sensitive vineyard environments

  • Protecting existing vineyard infrastructure, roadways, and landscape features

  • Maintaining efficiency while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards

All work was completed with precision, consistency, and minimal impact to surrounding assets.

Results & Impact

  • ~1,200 hazardous trees removed (individually assessed and marked)

  • ~2,972 additional fire-damaged trees and vegetation treated

  • 7 miles of roadway restored and secured

  • Significant reduction in wildfire fuel loads and roadside hazards

  • Improved accessibility, safety, and operational functionality for vineyard use

This project substantially enhanced both immediate safety conditions and long-term land management outcomes.
